WHAT IS THE COST OF A CHAMBER MEMBERSHIP?
Would you believe just two customers? A friend of mine who owns a retail store recently told me an interesting theory about the cost/benefit ratio of Chamber membership, Here's the theory: In every Chamber, there are many, many members who feel very strongly about shopping only with other Chamber members and supporting the people who support our community. And this is certainly a justifiable viewpoint. So, the theory is that if a retail store lost only two customers by not being a Chamber member, over a year's time what they would have spent in a retail store would more than cover membership dues.
Remember the saying, "It pays to stay/shop local"? Another friend of mine told me a story concerning the professional services sector in Galena . She was in need of some emergency dental care and because she had been seeing a local dentist, she was given an appointment for the next day. Supporting local industry, retail, service trade, professional offices, etc. means expedited service, special ordering, select choices and a peace of mind.
There are many more benefits than these to joining the Chamber, but these facts alone makes it a simple decision.
